The scope and sensitivity of university data necessitates the organization of clear authority and control to ensure its responsible governance. To do this effectively across NC State, various data governance roles are in place to ensure oversight and accountability for data governance across all operational areas of the university. While their responsibilities differ, the various data governance roles work together in concert to ensure the collection, use, storage and handling of data enables operational excellence as well as meets all applicable laws, regulations, contractual requirements and internal requirements.
